I shot the white buffalo!

I don't know why I didn't post about this when I was posting about New Mexico =)

When I went to Raton, New Mexico I shot the white buffalo (a steel plate in the shape of a real size buffalo) at 1,123 yards! I shot it on my first shot in the prone position, then I shot it again, and hit it. A few people had shot at it offhand, I wanted to try but I didn't know if my gun was going to be too heavy or not. Hannah (in the pic below), helped me to get into position, and she stood behind me just in case I "fell" back. On my very first shot, I hit it on the black 16" plate that is in the middle! Let's just say I didn't try that again, first shot hit...was it luck?

Hannah and Kelly were the others to hit it on their first shot offhand

There's not much going on besides prepping brass. In the late fall and winter, there aren't a lot of matches. In December, there is the Arizona State Championships. I went to that match last year, but I don't think I'm going this year. I want to go because the Young Eagles Development team is going, and I want to shoot with them more. I also want to go, because that was the first palma that I went to, but we are saving up money for a custom palma/match rifle. I am using a borrowed one that I can use as long as I need to, but I want my own!

For the past two weeks, my dad and I have been helping some new shooters. We are helping them learn position shooting. They have come over a few times, and we taught them how to size, clean, and trim their brass. They come to the .22 shooting class that my dad teaches. They have been shooting very good! One day, we went to the range with them. They shot service rifle, and I shot my match rifle. I let Haley, one of the shooters, try my rifle. She liked it but, she doesn't shoot a heavy rifle. 12.6 pounds takes a bit to get used to =).
Soon, she is coming to watch one of the matches that I go to.
