Some days you shoot great, others you don't. You think I would have known that by now. I was expecting to shoot great, like I have been, but at this match I didn't do very great. I was really mad after dropping 12 points, but I have to forget when I have an off day and look forward to shooting good again. I don't know why I wasn't able to shoot good, there wasn't enough wind for me to drop that many. I just had a really off day. I had too much on my mind I guess, because that really messes you up! Well, every once in a while you don't shoot your best, and that's what happened to me on Saturday. Oh well, I'll survive, somehow ;). It's humbling... everybody needs that once in a while.
Haley did really good, she beat me with a 594/600. On her last string, she got a clean! I was (and am) really happy for her! She shot very well, and she should be proud of how she did! I am looking forward to May, when she shoots long-range individually, and under a coach, I think she will do great!

Long day!
Wow, where do I start? Well, on Friday night, a friend invited me to an all night party with about 100 people from her church. We went swimming, ice skating, and just hung out. It was really fun, but we decided to skip bowling, which was from 2:00-3:00 in the morning, so we could get a little sleep. We had a match in the morning, so that's why we wanted some sleep! Mrs. Pitre dropped me off at home, where I get a little less than 3 hours of sleep.
At 7:00, we met them at a store, and I loaded my shooting gear in their car. We followed the Rettmer's to Machias, and I think I slept over half the way there! I could barely keep my eyes open, so I thought I should sleep.
I thought I was going to die out there shooting when I had practically no sleep, but I think I did ok. My first string was a 200-12X, I was very surprised that I could shoot when I was tired, but I think it works better, haha! My second string was a 200-11X. Some people thought that a 9 was marked a 10, but I didn't notice it, because my my scope wasn't perfectly clear, and my scorer didn't say anything. But, on my last string, I dropped a low nine, I was so sad! I shot a 199-14X. Overall, I was really happy with my X count and score of 599-37X, my personal best for 500 yards!
I was sent home with a borrowed Savage Palma Rifle to try it, and to see if I like it. Tonight, I am going to get into position with it, and make it fit me so I can dry-fire and shoot it. I don't think I'll be shooting with it at matches, just for practice.

Match winner!
On February the 26th, there was a match at Plantation. It was freezing outside, 20 degrees! Even in a few layers and hand warmers, I was still cold! During every string, my hands were numb, so pulling the trigger was a little tricky at times. I shot a 149-4X (out of 150) on my first string. The wind caught me on one shot, so that's where the nine came from =). On my second string, I shot a 148-3X. Come on, really? I thought I just wasn't shooting good, my dad also noticed that my elevation was all over the place. He looked at my rifle, and one of the screws was loose! He tightened it, and on my last string, I cleaned it, 150-8X! That''s more like it! I ended up winning the match with a 447-15X! I wasn't too happy with my X count, but a loose screw can do that to you! I'm just glad it didn't turn out worse than it did, because that could have been really bad!

That day, I was given a Warner #2 rear sight by Shiraz! I was also given a a bullet block (it holds your ammo when you're shooting) by Ron. I was so amazed by peoples generosity! Throughout my shooting experience, people have been so nice! In December 2009, I was given a great rifle sling, because I didn't have a sling that fit me. When I needed help with "my" rifle September 2010, a few people jumped in and helped me out!
